Some debts can only be paid in blood
Brooklyn is thirty-four years old. She works crime and narcotics, weapons intelligence, and she has handled top secret material for the Information Operations Center Analysis Group. She is quick to anger and quicker to draw a weapon. And prior to her husband’s death, she was in bed with the mob—a fact that didn’t change after his untimely demise.
Dante Mancini is public enemy number one. By all accounts, Dante is the most dangerous mob boss this country has ever seen. He makes his brother look like he was left on the monkey bars hanging upside down one too many times. Dante has two weaknesses, and only two—Brooklyn and her daughter.
After three years of increased organized crime activity, agents realize Dante won’t slip. He doesn’t trip and he damn sure won’t fall. Then again, some say Dante has already taken the most detrimental tumble of all. He is head-over-heels for a woman indebted to a government agency eager to collect what is owed.
Lucky for him, Dante is one step ahead of those who want to lock him up and misplace the key. And the woman he loves is prepared to protect him at any cost.
I will resume this story in one word: must. read.
It is no secret that I like Destiny Blaine. A lot. She is for me a “sure thing”. Each time she publishes a ménage thriller, I know without the shadow of a doubt that I will spend a great time.
A debt Owed. A promise Made. is no exception.
I love all those undercovers slash CIA slash SEAL agents. But I think what I enjoy the most is when the heroine is one of them and not a “way out” for the heroes. I read a lot of those and even if I enjoy those stories, I always have this nagging feeling: “uh uh, no secret agents can retire for the love of a woman… not going to happen… ever”.
I know that it is romance, dammit! But the question is: do I need to gobble everything because it is a romance fiction? Yes, of course a lot is amplified but there is nothing better for me when an author is trying to stick a bit more to reality. I want to believe that this kind of passion exist so if the story is too out of my reality, then the “wow” factor is missing.
It is difficult to reach in erotic romances. I understand that. And this is why I believe that a top pick for me is this:
LOVE/ROMANCE = CHARACTERS DEVELOPMENT = PLOT = SEX SCENES
Each and everyone of them must be equal for me in order to keep me on my toes and of course original. A déjà vu is not really attractive.
A debt Owed. A promise Made. almost made it. 😉
I enjoyed everything in it but the only missing part was the equality with the third hero. I definitely felt it was a MF with an extra even tho I got my HEA. I would have loved better if Destiny Blaine took a couple of extra chapters and developed more the relationship and character of the third hero. I would have loved to know a bit more of both past heroes, how they became the men they were.
Besides that, everything else was fantastic. I loved the passion, the intensity, the heroine’s personality, both heroes, sex scenes, the plot. It was totally credible and original because it is the first time I saw this kind of heroine and I loved it.
I truly enjoyed reading this story that I warmly recommend to everyone to read!
