What a great sweet story!
I never read Alyssa Turner but I can tell you right now that she is now part of my follow new author menage list. She is not a newbie tho. She already published a couple of MF and erotica and methinks that it is a matter of short time that she will publish a MM story.
I like that. I like it when an author is exploring the sub-genre. It shows not only an open mind but also a talent. Because it is not easy to switch from MM to MF to menage to erotica. And yes, I make a definite difference between erotic and erotica. Erotica being way more centered about sex.
By Surprise is definitely not erotica. It is all about the story of 3 people who discover that you cannot fight love.
I read this book non stop in a couple of hours. I just could not put it down. It was a sweet loving story. And in a way I am surprised that I liked it so much because I am generally not fond of bi with gay with a woman when both men have an already existing relationship. More often than never, the woman turns out to be a sex toy which frustrates me tons.
It was not the case with this story. In fact, I turned the page and I was surprised how little sex I found in the book. And I am very okay with that. As I mentioned already, I do not mind if sex takes a secondary place in the story.
So why did I enjoy it? Because I could relate to them. If someone would have told me that this story happened in real life, I would not have been surprised… most probably jealous but not surprised.
Maybe the only element that tickled me was the fact that one of the guy had an open gay relation and he was a detective/cop. And we all know how macho the cops are. But again, maybe the story stood in Frisco or any other more tolerant city. Who knows?
To be honest, I was very surprised how quickly I read this story and how easy it was. I wanted to surrender myself in the sweetness of it. The awwwwweee was on my lips once I turned the last page 😉
So you must take a chance and read this one. If you feel romantic and need a well written menage story, then you have it here.
Sex that’s twice as good, love that’s three times stronger.
When Jodi returned to Burlington after a nasty divorce, broke and without a much needed place to sculpt, she never expected to bump into Paxton, her best friend from growing up. With her unresolved feelings for him still smoldering, it was a shock to find him married—to a great guy. But when Paxton and Nicholas offer her a room for rent in their too-big, too-expensive Victorian, complete with a turret to use as her art studio, it seems like the perfect solution for everyone. Until Jodi overhears Nicholas and Paxton making love—and finds herself burning hotter than she ever imagined.
Nicholas always knew his husband Paxton was bi-sexual, but finding his forgotten stash of cheerleader DVDs makes him wonder if Paxton’s been tamping down his old desires. As strong as their love is, he knows there are things he just can’t give Paxton…or can he? He decides to get Paxton a very special birthday present—a night with a woman—a no-strings arrangement to grant him the fantasies Nicholas isn’t equipped to fulfill. But when he meets Paxton’s best friend Jodi, Nicholas finds himself facing new feelings of his own. If only he could stop imagining Jodi’s body wedged between Paxton and him and figure out what to do…
Alyssa Turner’s writings address a woman’s desire to really have it all – including the things she’s not supposed to want. Hot stories under challenging circumstances are explicit and emotional because erotica should leave you with lingering images and a thoughtful smile.
Newly published with two novellas and three short stories, her first publication was included in the renowned annual collection Best Women’s Erotica (2011), edited by Violet Blue. Other selective anthologies include Wanton Women, edited by Miranda Forbes.
