I was not sure how to rate this story. Everything was good except I did not connect with the characters and thinking about it, I think I know why.
Mari Carr decided to introduce the two males after page 50. Until then, it was the heroine and another character that I really thought would turn to be her lover. So when it was clear that he was not going to be and the real one came along, I was just not into the love story. They did not take the first place in the story and therefore I did not feel the love story. They were both lovable but all I knew about them was very superficial so I did not fall for them.
The heroine had a nice personality but here as well, I did not connect with her. Although I was a bit tired to read that she did not trust the twins she was falling for and continued to lie almost up to the end of the story. The explanation was way too brief and thought that something was missing with the reaction of the twins.
I liked very much Rodney and he took a lot of places in the story. I was hoping since he took such place that I could read his love story at the same time but I guess Mari Carr thought differently and his story will be told in book 3 of this series: because it’s true. If you are an OCD of series to read in order, you may then consider to read Book 1, Because of you, a MF story but the characters showed up very briefly in book 2 so this series can be read as a stand alone.
I cannot say that it was average. I cannot say it was great. I just did not connect.
The story has a solid plot. I always enjoy when an author takes the time to develop a story outside the bedroom.
The sex scenes were present only after half of the book. I did not find them extremely hot but on this topic I am very hard to please. The only thing I can say is that I skipped a couple of paragraphs to continue to read the plot.
I think I will resume my review by this: it is a good story to read but the passion was missing.
Safety in numbers? Depends on what you mean by safe…
Bridget Wilder’s life is shot to hell—literally—when she witnesses the murder of her best friend, Lyle. Protective custody? What a joke. Time after time, someone has leaked her whereabouts, forcing her to run from one safe house to the next.
Tired of cold, lonely beds and living in fear, Bridget convinces her guardian cop she’s safer off the grid, following Lyle’s trail of clues to a missing flash drive that could put the killer behind bars.
It doesn’t take twins Mark and Matt James long to figure out two things. Bridget’s not only in trouble, she is trouble—they both want her. When things get a little hot and heavy one night, though, they’re stunned to discover that they don’t mind sharing. And she loves being shared.
Between the James brothers’ hot, hard bodies, Bridget finally feels safe—and loved. When a hit man tracks her down, the last thing she wants is for them to place those bodies between her and danger. But those cowboys have other ideas. Like keeping her alive long enough to convince her she belongs with them. Forever.
Warning: Scary times ahead! An evil judge, a car chase, a hit man and more! Luckily, the rough times are soothed by lots and lots of ménage sex with two red-hot alpha cowboys.
