My review: 5/5
This book has many cliche: virgin, bride left at the altar, men being warriors vs women pacifists, racism, lies, jealousy… Mixed together and you have another winner for Evanne Lorraine. Am I surprised? nope. This author knows how to captivate us.
First thing to know is that this book is a MMF, the kind I personally like when it is about bisexuality: all 3 are equals. It is never easy to read a MMF. Some story do favor the 2 males, put them into the dominant alpha position and the girl is merely a toy with no personality… and unfortunately a lot of authors favor this type of erotica menage romance. This annoys me tons: the more brainless the girl is, passive and all, the more I wish to jump to the last page and consequently I read the book in diagonal no longer interested, even motivated to read more. I have no idea why some authors think that a woman must be stupid with no grey cells, no sense of rebellion. (general message to all authors here! Please give us some spunk so us, women, can be proud to be women!).
TG! Camille’s Capture is far from boring and the author think that males and females are allowed to express their feelings and weakness without stereotype of cavemen and blonde girl. This story is about 3 people who discover that love does not come without communication and showing who they truly are. First of all, I loved that she is not a whining virgin girl and has a strong personality (I will never ever say it enough… maybe the message will reach some authors you think? I sure hope! lol). All along the story, I read some funny thoughts, the kind that brings some humor that is lacking so often in erotica. I am not saying that I laughed out loud reading this book since this is not a comedy book at all but when an author takes in consideration to give some brain to the heroine, I can only smile and be happy! 🙂
Goddess save me from idiots, martyrs, and stubborn warriors.
Understanding their true reason made a galaxy of difference.
She parted for him eagerly, and the luscious taste of him made her mouth water and her optimistic channel gush with fresh moisture.
With a smile of satisfaction, she congratulated herself on surviving, mastering, and taking great pleasure from the dreaded in-person breeding.
Another cliche I found interesting was about lying behind a mask. One of the male is an alien and need to disguise himself into a human appearance. the other male is a straight male but openly showing his love to his best friend is a nono and would fire him immediately from the military. Here again, we all know this is happening in our society. How many of us are hiding behind our own mask, never showing who we really are, what we like or dislike only because of taboos, society or else? Most of the time maturity helps us to get out either from the closet or just reveal who we really are and I am not only talking about sexuality here but sometimes it never happens and this is sad.
This story has a good mix between romance and plot. The first half we get to know the characters and the second half the plot is more important. I enjoyed reading each of their mind and Camille’s doubts being loved equally was totally credible. Just a note to say that violence is not over the top and not sure whey it was even mentioned by the publisher and the sex scenes just mixed nicely with the story. This is the kind of book that you read, put aside for a couple of months and re-read with the same pleasure.
I must say that Evanne Lorraine never fail to entertain me with her romantica menage. Each time I see a new release from this author, I have absolute no hesitation to buy because I know with certainty that I will spend more than an excellent time to read her new story.
Publisher’s description (Loose-id):
Genetically engineered for a single function, to breed, Camille has followed the rules and accepted the Goddess’s will as explained by the elders all her life. After artificial insemination fails, she gathers her courage, traveling to distant New Eden to try in-person breeding. When her matches fail to appear, the meek little breeder rebels, determined to leave the Goddess-forsaken world behind her as fast as the next ship home can make the jump to subspace.
Aegis exists only to fulfill his vow to avenge the death of his parents by a Baldorean blood mage. Not even the forbidden desire for Jaxon interferes with his quest. But contact with a breeder threatens everything he holds sacred.
For four years, Jaxon dreamed of tri-bond with Aegis. Isolated by hostilities in the endless war with Baldor, he’s trapped in the close quarters of their fighter with Aegis and Cami, his most secret dream come true. But instead of bliss, he finds himself plunged into a battle with prejudice, doubts, and jealousy.
Cami travels halfway across the universe, survives brutal rejection, humiliation and a firefight. Stranded with two fierce warriors, not even a broken heart will make her quit until she has the sperm she needs.
Publisher’s Note:This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, interspecies sex, menage (m/m/f) male/male sexual practices, violence.
Genre: Multicultural Menage; Science Fiction/Fantasy; Space Opera
Anne Cain did a great job with the cover, it is pretty but it could be used on many sci-fi menage stories. It does not give anything special saying that this cover was made specifically for this story. A very pretty generic cover though 🙂
